The Spring Child and the Short Story Contest

Word finally arrived:  The Spring Child is in the finals for the TusCon 2009 Science-Fiction/Fantasy Short Story Contest, co-sponsored by the Pima County Public Library.

We won't know for sure if I placed in the top three (or in the top one) until Friday night, but I feel a strangely deep relief knowing that my story didn't get lost somewhere between the reception desk and the person in charge of the contest.  (For some reason, that was my biggest fear: that no one would have a chance to see it.)

Last year I went to the contest with only an interest in writing and two short stories.  This year I have a complete book, another in progress, and a solid month of blogging under my belt.

It's time to do some advertising.

  1. I'm really glad you made the finals. At this point, it depends a lot on what judges they pick, but making it to the finals both years really says something about the consistency of your writing. I'm really glad strangers like it.
